-SPIKES FINISH OFF HOMESTAND: The State College Spikes face the Tri-City ValleyCats tonight at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park to complete a three-game series. State College is 3-2 so far in their six-game homestand. Tri-City leads the all-time series, 9-5, and has won four of the six games played in Happy Valley. The visit is the only one Tri-City will make this year.
-LAST GAME: Gift Ngoepe doubled as part of a two-hit night, and Adalberto Santos reached base three times, but the State College Spikes could not quite muster enough offense to get past the Tri-City ValleyCats on Sunday night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park in a 4-1 defeat. Mel Rojas, Jr. went 2-for-4 in the game to join Ngoepe with multi-hit performances. The loss was the first in a Sunday home game for State College this year.
-WALDRON TRIES TO FIND SUCCESS: Right-hander Tyler Waldron makes his tenth start for State College this evening. The fifth-round draft pick allowed five runs, of which just two were earned, on five hits in five innings against Staten Island on Wednesday. Waldron has a 2.89 ERA this year in six home starts, and right-handers have a .240 average against him.
-VALLEYCATS SEND ROBINSON TO MOUND: Tri-City will go with right-hander Andrew Robinson on the mound tonight. Robinson is starting for the third time this year, and makes his 16th appearance of the season. Last time out, the Senoia, GA native allowed two runs on six hits over three innings of work against Mahoning Valley on Wednesday.
-THREE SPIKES NAMED TO NYPL ALL-STAR TEAM: Three Spikes will represent the club in the New York-Penn League All-Star Game on August 17th at Staten Island. Infielder Matt Curry, outfielder Adalberto Santos and left-handed pitcher Jhonathan Ramos will all be on the National League squad at the game. Curry is currently in fifth in on-base percentage in the NYPL with a .424 mark, ans Santos is tied for second in runs scored with 37.
