-SPIKES BEGIN SIX-GAME HOMESTAND TONIGHT: The State College Spikes start a six-game stretch of games against out-of-division opponents at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park tonight with the first game of a three-game series against the Aberdeen IronBirds. State College is 4-10 against Aberdeen all-time, and 2-4 all-time at home.

-LAST GAME: Alex Dickerson capped the highest-scoring night of the season for the State College Spikes with the fifth grand slam in team history, and Ryan Hafner delivered six shutout innings on the mound in a 14-1 win over the Jamestown Jammers on Monday night at Russell Diethrick Park. Dickerson's blast on an 0-2 pitch in the ninth inning was preceded by a Chris Lashmet solo shot to begin the Spikes' scoring in the first inning.

-JEFFERSON STARTS FOR SPIKES: Left-hander Mike Jefferson makes the start for the Spikes tonight after going four shutout innings at Vermont last time out. Jefferson allowed just one hit and three walk in his four frames this past Thursday, enabling the Spikes to capture their first series victory on the road this season. The 22nd-round pick of the Pirates in 2011, Jefferson has not allowed a run over eight innings in his last two starts.

-IRONBIRDS BEGIN WITH BRIDWELL: Aberdeen right-hander Parker Bridwell makes his tenth start of the year and 11th appearance for the IronBirds tonight. Bridwell, a ninth-round pick of the Orioles in the 2010 draft, made four appearances split between the Gulf Coast League and Aberdeen last season.

-GONZALEZ AND MESA NAMED TO NYPL ALL-STAR GAME: Spikes catcher Samuel Gonzalez and outfielder Carlos Mesa have each been named to the National League squad for the 2011 New York-Penn League All-Star Game next Tuesday in Lowell. Gonzalez will be the sole Spike playing in the game, though, as Mesa will not play due to injury.
