Four Scrappers Named to All-Star Roster

Niles, Ohio - Danny Jimenez, Bryson Myles, Jordan Smith and Tony Wolters were selected to represent the Mahoning Valley Scrappers at the 2011 New York-Penn League All- Star Game in Lowell, Mass.

Jimenez, the only Scrappers pitcher in the game, began the season in the bullpen before moving to the starting rotation. The left-hander enters today with an ERA under 2.50 as a starting pitcher.

Myles got off to a fast start in 2011, batting .313 through his first 19 games before suffering an injury. He stole 10 bases prior to the injury and has 11 total this season. Myles has made starts at all three outfield positions.

Smith made his professional debut for the Scrappers on June 22nd and drove in the winning run with a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the 11th inning. He began the season with an 18-game home hitting streak and is batting .327 in 43 games entering play today. Smith is among the league leaders in average, hits, RBIs and doubles.

Wolters has started 48 of the Scrappers 51 games this season, including 46 at shortstop. He has 18 multi-hit games and went 5-for-6 on August 3rd against Staten Island. He has 15 stolen bases to lead the team.

The 2011 New York-Penn League All-Star Game is Tuesday, August 16th at LeLacheur Park in Lowell. The game will feature a matchup between American League affiliates' All-Stars and National League affiliates' All-Stars.
