-SPIKES WELCOME IN VALLEYCATS: The State College Spikes face the Tri-City ValleyCats tonight at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park in the second game of a three-game series. State College comes into tonight's contest with a three-game winning streak. Tri-City leads the all-time series, 8-4, and has won four of the six games played in Happy Valley.

-LAST GAME: State College Spikes pitching did not allow a hit until the fifth inning, and Walker Gourley provided a pair of crucial hits in a 2-1 victory over the ValleyCats last night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Gourley scored the Spikes' first run in the fifth inning, and his RBI single in the sixth plated the eventual game-winning run. Colton Cain combined with Kevin Decker to hold the ValleyCats out of the hit column until the fifth.

-FUESSER TO SPARK SPIKES: Left-hander Zac Fuesser makes his sixth start and tenth appearance for State College this evening. The York, SC native allowed two run on four hits over four innings at Jamestown in his last outing on Tuesday. Fuesser has allowed right-handed hitters just a .216 average this season.

-VALLEYCATS SEND MARTINEZ TO HILL: Tri-City will go with right-hander David Martinez on the mound tonight. Martinez has made four starts this year, but made a one-inning relief apperance in his last outing. The native Venezuelan allowed a run on two hits against Mahoning Valley on Wednesday. Martinez has a 5.09 ERA as a starter this year.

-THREE SPIKES NAMED TO NYPL ALL-STAR TEAM: Three Spikes will represent the club in the New York-Penn League All-Star Game on August 17th at Staten Island. Infielder Matt Curry, outfielder Adalberto Santos and left-handed pitcher Jhonathan Ramos will all be on the National League squad at the game. Curry is currently in the top ten in the NYPL in both batting average (10th, .331) and on-base percentage (2nd, .435).
