-SPIKES PLAY RUBBER MATCH TONIGHT: After splitting the first two games, the State College Spikes look to win their series against the Staten Island Yankees in the final game of a three-game series to finish the first half of a season-long six-game stretch at home. The Spikes are now 3-11 against the Yankees in the all-time series, and 2-6 at home.

-LAST GAME: Zack Von Rosenberg was dominant in six shutout innings on the mound for the State College Spikes, but it came down to an error in the bottom of the ninth inning on Gerlis Rodriguez's sacrifice bunt to provide the winning run as the Spikes defeated the Staten Island Yankees for the first time in over three years, 3-2, at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park last night. It was the Spikes' first win over the Yanks since July 21, 2007.

-DODSON GETS THE NOD FOR SPIKES: Left-hander Zack Dodson takes the ball for State College tonight. Dodson is making his eighth start and tenth overall appearance, and looks to rebound from allowing six runs (five earned) on seven hits over four innings at Auburn. The Natalia, TX native has two five-strikeout peformances on the 2010 season.

-YANKEES GO GREENE ON MOUND: Staten Island will send right-hander Shane Greene out to the mound this evening. Greene struck out six, but allowed four runs (three earned) over six innings in a loss to Brooklyn last time out. The 15th-round pick of the Yankees last year out of Daytona Beach Community College, Greene was a reliever for the GCL Yankees in '09.

-CURRY AMONG HITTING LEADERS: Matt Curry is currently in the top eight in the NYPL in both batting average (8th, .330) and on-base percentage (3rd, .439).

-WHITE WINS WEEKLY AWARD: Cole White was named the NYPL Player of the Week for July 26-August 1 on Monday. White went 9-for-16 with a home run and seven RBI to earn the honor. The West Point alum is the four Spike to win a weekly league award this year.
