-SPIKES CONTINUE ROAD TRIP IN WILLIAMSPORT TONIGHT: The State College Spikes face the Auburn Doubledays tonight to continue a five-game string of road games with the first game of three at Falcon Park. State College faces a seven-game deficit behind division-leading Auburn in the Pinckney Division race. The Spikes are 1-3 against the Doubledays this year, dropping a pair of games at home this past Friday and Saturday. Auburn has the all-time series lead, 35-29.

-LAST GAME: D.J. Crumlich delivered a two-out, bases-loaded double to score three runs and give the Spikes a 4-2 lead entering the bottom of the seventh, but the Williamsport Crosscutters came back with four runs of their own to down the Spikes, 6-4, on Monday night at Historic Bowman Field. A three-run seventh capped by Chris Serritella's two-out, two-run single was the key for the 'Cutters. Tyler Gaffney was hit by pitch for the 20th time this year, four shy of the NYPL record.

-RODRIGUEZ REPRISES MOUND ROLE FOR SPIKES: Left-hander Joely Rodriguez makes his twelfth start of the year for the Spikes tonight. Rodriguez, a native of the Dominican Republic, has faced Auburn once this year, giving up three runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out four over four innings on August 9 at Falcon Park. Rodriguez is 1-1 with a 1.93 ERA and a 9-to-3 strikeout-to-walk ratio in five road starts this year, allowing opponents just a .224 average

-DOUBLEDAYS GO WITH ENCARNACION ON HILL: Right-hander Pedro Encarnacion is slated to start for the Doubledays tonight. Encarnacion has not yet faced the Spikes this year, but is 3-0 with a 2.25 ERA at home this year. On the road, the Dominican righty is 0-1 with a 9.18 ERA. Last time out, Encarnacion went six innings and allowed four runs on six hits while striking out one in a no-decision against Mahoning Valley this past Wednesday.

-McPHERSON BECOMES 15TH SPIKE TO REACH MAJORS: Former Spikes pitcher Kyle McPherson, who was with the club from 2007-09, earned promotion to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday night and became the 15th Spike to become a Major Leaguer when he tossed two scoreless innings against the San Diego Padres. McPherson was the Spikes' Pitcher of the Year in 2009, and earned Minor League Pitcher of the Year honors for the whole Pirates system in 2011.

-SPIKE MARKS: Clay Holmes is now seventh in the NYPL in earned run average at 2.19 and leads in opponents' batting average with a .164 mark...Samuel Gonzalez leads the NYPL with 5 sacrifice flies...Pat Ludwig and Alex Fuselier were promoted to Single-A West Virginia today...Ludwig was third among NYPL relievers in fewest baserunners/9 IP with a mark of 7.71
