Huntsville Stars News Release
Huntsville,AL - Rey Navarro's solo homerun in the top of the tenth lifted the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, the Double-A Affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds to a 2-1 win over the Huntsville Stars, the Double-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. With the loss, the Stars seven game winning streak comes to an end.
The game was scoreless until Juan Duran singled home Juan Silverio to give Pensacola a 1-0 lead against Starts starter Brent Suter in the fifth. That would be the only run Suter surrendered. The lefty turned in six strong innings, allowing five hits while striking out six.
The Stars bats were held quiet most of the night by Blue Wahoo starter Jon Moscot. He gave up just two hits in his 5.2 innings on the mound.
Finally the Stars put together some offense in the ninth against Pensacola closer Drew Hayes(1-0). For the second straight night, Mitch Haniger provided the Stars with a big moment. Haniger hit a solo homerun to left field tying the game at 1-1. It was Haniger's second homerun in as many nights and his second of the season. His homerun forced the game into extra innings.
Stars reliever David Goforth(0-1) pitched the tenth. After he retired the first two batters, Navarro came to the plate and hit a homer over the right center field fence. It was the third straight game that Navarro homered in.
The Stars and Blue Wahoos will conclude their five game series Sunday afternoon. RHP Michael Lorenzen(1-0, 0.00) will start for Pensacola while RHP Tyler Cravy(1-0, 1.00) will start for Huntsville.
