BLAINE, Minn. - The Stars scored in the third minute through a Neil Hlavaty free kick and responded immediately from a potentially spirit-crushing own goal with two second half goals from Luke Mulholland and Lucas Rodriguez to claim a 3-1 win against the Fort Lauderdale Strikers in leg one of the North American Soccer League Championship Series in front of 4,511 fans at NSC Stadium. The second leg of the home-and-away, total goals series is next Saturday at 6 p.m. at Fort Lauderdale's Lockhart Stadium, and the Stars have a golden opportunity to lift the first Soccer Bowl in the history of the re-launched NASL.
