Stars to raise funds

DES MOINES, IA - In support of their friends and neighbors, the Iowa Stars, in partnership with the player's wives and girlfriends, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Des Moines affiliate and KCCI TV-8, announced a Pink Pucks campaign to benefit breast cancer research and awareness. Beginning October 21st at Wells Fargo Arena, a limited edition Iowa Stars Pink Puck will be available for $10. The special commemorative puck will be sold at the remaining three October home games with $5 from each puck sold going to the fight against Breast Cancer and the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Des Moines Affiliate.

The special pucks features an Iowa Stars logo, a pink ribbon and the Komen Des Moines 15th Anniversary/ Race for the Cure logo. Stars player's wives and girlfriends as well as members of the Komen Foundation will sell the limited edition pucks on the concourse for all October homes games starting on October 21st. October is recognized as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

In addition to raise funds and awareness, the Stars will also donate a portion of specific ticket sales to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. For more information on these special ticket packages, please contact the Stars at 515-23-STARS.

IOWA STARS INFO: The Stars Opening Night is scheduled for Thursday, October 12th against Houston. Wells Fargo Arena game time is 7:05 PM, however fans are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy the Opening Night festivities. Season ticket packages are on sale now at the Stars office, located at 833 5th Avenue in Downtown Des Moines. Full season packages begin at only $336, with 12-game mini-plans as low as $168.
