HENDERSON, Nev., - The Salt Lake City Stars (18-13), the official NBA G League Affiliate of the Utah Jazz, collected their ninth straight win, defeating the NBA G League Ignite (2-30), 128-87, while completing a back-to-back series sweep on Saturday night.
Salt Lake City saw seven players notch double figures. Guard Isaiah Miller came off the bench to lead the Stars with 21 points, while grabbing seven rebounds, and serving five assists. Eli Cain added an additional 21 points in 26 minutes of action. As a reserve Nick Ongenda earned a career-high 20 points on an efficient 10-of-11 from the field. Meanwhile, Stars guard Taevion Kinsey served a game-high eight assists, tallying 18 points, and two rebounds on the night.
The Stars quickly shot to a 13-point advantage (32-19) in the opening frame. Ignite attempted to fight back, adding 26 points in the second quarter, to the Stars' 29. However, they could not overcome the advantage. The Stars continued to push ahead, taking a 25-point lead (47-22) with 8:19 remaining, before ending the first half ahead, 61-45.
Salt Lake City held control of the contest, grabbing their largest lead of the night with 44 points in fourth, before capturing their ninth-consecutive victory, 128-87, in a series sweep over Ignite.
Ignite was led by guard Gabe York with 18 points, adding an additional six rebounds, and four assists. Sixth-man London Johnson followed suit, totaling 16 points in 25 minutes on the floor. Dink Pate and Babacar Sane finished with 13 points apiece, while Sane added five rebounds, two assists and two steals.
The Stars aim to continue their winning streak as they return to Salt Lake City for their final home game of the season on Tuesday, March 26 against the Austin Spurs (San Antonio Spurs affiliate).
