Birmingham, AL-A day after the Huntsville Stars were shutout, they came back Sunday afternoon and routed the Birmingham Barons 13-0 to win four out of five in the series at Regions Field in Birmingham.
The Stars put together four different innings of scoring three runs.
Already leading 1-0, the Stars plated three runs in the top of the third against Birmingham starter Myles Jaye(3-10). Hector Gimenez stroked a two-run double and Josh Prince added a sacrifice fly making it 4-0.
Jaye, who took the loss only lasted three innings and allowed four hits on four runs(two earned).
In the top of the fourth, the Stars received back to back rbi singles from Nick Shaw and Josh Fellhauer. Giminez doubled home a run for a 7-0 lead.
The Stars expanded their lead in the fifth. Yadiel Rivera and Nick Shaw produced back to back rbi singles. Rivera also scored on a wild pitch for a 10-0 lead.
The Stars fourth and final three run inning came in the seventh. Rivera led off with a solo homerun, his first Double-A homerun.
Gimenez contributed his fourth rbi of the game on a sacrifice fly. Prince doubled down the left field line scoring Fellhauer making it 13-0 Stars.
Brent Suter(10-8), Eric Marzec, Greg Holle and Kevin Shackelford combined for the seven hit shutout of the Barons.
Suter, pitched five scoreless innings and only allowed three hits.
The Stars offense racked up fourteen hits. Shaw went 3-4 with 2 rbi's. Gimenez went 2-5 with 4 rbi's. Rivera had a 3-5 performance with 2 rbi's.
The Stars(24-26, 70-50) travel back to Huntsville to have an off day Monday. The Stars will continue their ten-game road trip Tuesday in Kodak, Tennessee against the Tennessee Smokies, the Double-A Affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. RHP Drew Gagnon(8-6, 3.76) will start for Huntsville. Tennessee will have RHP Felix Pena(1-1, 4.82) on the mound.
