Stars Launch Contest for Traveling Fans

BLAINE, Minn. (Oct. 27, 2011) - Following the Minnesota Stars to Fort Lauderdale for the NASL Championship Series' Tell the team about it for a chance to win $100 courtesy of Stars CEO Djorn Buchholz.

The Stars are asking fans traveling to Lockhart Stadium for the second leg of the Stars championship series against the Strikers to chronicle their trips via video or a trip journal and submit them to the team. On Friday, Nov. 4, the Stars will post all of the videos and written accounts to their YouTube and Facebook pages. The video with the most combined views and likes and the written account with the most likes will each receive $100 to help with travel expenses.

"Over the past two years, we've been able to give fans a good look at what happens behind the scenes with'StarsTV' and the 'Shine On' video series," Buchholz said. "Now we'd love to see our fans respond by showing us what it's like as a traveling supporter, and I want to personally reward the fans who spend their time and money following the team for the most important game in its history."

To enter, fans must keep a video or written diary of their trips to Fort Lauderdale and submit the entries to the Stars by next Wednesday morning at 10. Written entries can be emailed directly to alex@nscminnesota.com. Fans with videos should email that address for upload instructions. The contest winner will be announced Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 10 a.m.

The Stars take on the Fort Lauderdale Strikers Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. CDT in the second leg of the two-game NASL Championship Series. The Stars have a 3-1 lead in the total-goals series after the first leg at NSC Stadium in Blaine, Minn.
