Minnesota United FC News Release
The Montreal Impact defeated the NSC Minnesota Stars Saturday night 2-0. With the loss the Stars move down to fourth in the NASL standings. The top six teams qualify for the NASL playoffs. A goal in the sixth minute of the match gave the Montreal Impact an early lead. Simon Gatti took the ball down to the corner before passing it into the midfield where Ubiparipovik made the connection for the upper corner goal.
The Stars came out strong in the second half but failed to take full advantage of their several opportunities. A dangerous ball was played into the box for the Stars a few minutes into the half, but Tino Nunez couldn't quite get a foot on it. The Impact received their second goal after Ubiparipovic received the ball on a counterattack and snuck past the Minnesota defenders to strike a shot in the upper left corner. Ubiparipovic scored both goals of the match.
