Mobile BayBears News Release

HUNTSVILLE, AL -- The Mobile BayBears' bats were cooled Sunday afternoon in a 3-1 loss to the Huntsville Stars at Joe Davis Stadium. RHP Chase Anderson (2-2) threw seven innings of four hit ball but was charged with his second straight loss. The loss drops the BayBears to 9-7 and two games back of the Montgomery Biscuits for first place in the Southern League South Division.

The Stars took an early lead with one run in the bottom of the first on a RBI ground out that plated the runner from third. In the second inning, Anderson gave up his first homer of the year when Michael Ratteree hit a solo shot over the left field wall giving the Stars a 2-0 advantage.

The lone BayBear run came in the forth when Jake Lamb drove home Gerson Montilla from third on a sacrifice fly to center. The BayBears came close to drawing the score even in the eight inning when Sean Jamison tripled to begin the frame. After Garret Weber popped out for the first out, Jamison was picked off at third with one out and Mike Freeman at the plate. After Jamesion was tagged for the second out of the inning, Freeman grounded out to end the eighth. The Stars would add one more run in the bottom of the eighth to extend their lead to 3-1.

The BayBears (9-8) and Stars (11-6) continue the five game series with game three from Huntsville at 6:30 PM Monday night. LHP Andrew Chafin (0-0) will take to the mound for Mobile against RHP Drew Gargnon (2-0).
