Jackson, Tenn. – The Mobile BayBears bullpen let hem down in their series opener against Huntsville Friday night, as the Stars came from two down to win the game 5-3. The Stars scored three runs in the sixth inning against reliever Mike Bumstead to go ahead to stay.

After a 36 minute rain delay in the middle of the sixth Bumstead allowed all five men he faced to reach base, with three crossing the plate. Richard Paz led off with a single and scored on Brandon Gemoll's game-tying, two-run homerun. Bumstead then issued a walk to Mike Kremblas followed by two infield singles that loaded the bases.

Alan Webb came in to relieve Bumstead and struck out the first batter he faced. However, J.J. Hardy then hit a pop up into shallow right field that landed just out of the reach of right fielder John Knott and second baseman Jake Gautreau. Kremblas scored from third on the play with the go ahead run.

The BayBears scored all three of their runs in the fifth against Stars starter Luis Martinez. Humberto Quintero drove in Knott with a single, the first of his three hits in the game. On the play, Vince Faison crossed the plate on a throwing error by Kremblas from behind the plate. Todd Donovan picked up an RBI with a single lined over the head of Hardy at short.

The Stars comeback erased another strong outing by Chris Oxspring. The right-hander threw five innings giving up one run on just three hits while striking out six.

The BayBears and Stars will play game two of their series Saturday night at 7:05. LHP Cory Stewart (7-5) will get the start on the mound for the BayBears.
