
Stars Blank Smokies, Earn 10th Straight Win

Huntsville, AL- Huntsville (17-12, 54-42) made it ten straight wins, five of which have come at the Smokies expense by blanking Tennessee 3-0 Thursday night at Joe Davis Stadium.
The Stars chased Smokies starting pitcher Donnie Veal (5-8) after just one inning. Veal faced eight batters and walked his Southern League high 58th. He also a allowed two hits and two runs in facing just eight hitters. Steve Sollman (2-for-3) and Brendan Katin (2-for-4) delivered run scoring singles in the frame for the Stars.
Lindsey Guilen (9-3) was excellent on the hill for Huntsville striking out six. He cruised through seven innings of shutout baseball, yielding only three hits and one walk. The win was the one-hundred and first of his minor league career and ninth of the season.
The Smokies continue the series tomorrow night in Huntsville Friday night, as Tennessee's Mark Holliman (7-7) will go up against the Huntsville's Steven Hammond (5-7).
