Stars Blank Mississippi for Second Straight Night

Pearl, MS - The Huntsville Stars scored a season high thirteen runs Friday night as they blanked the Mississippi Braves for the second straight night. The Stars pounded out twelve hits on their way to a 13-0 win at Trustmark Park.

Hainley Statia, Nick Ramirez, Jason Rogers and Michael Ratterree all had two RBI nights for the Stars as they improve to 10-5 on the season.

Stars starter Tyler Cravy(2-1) threw five scoreless innings and struck out six while only giving up three hits. The Stars pitching staff was outstanding in the final three games against the Braves combining for nineteen consecutive scoreless innings.

The Stars scored in the fourth inning against major leaguer Gavin Floyd(0-1) who was making a rehab start for the Atlanta Braves. Josh Prince scampered home on a passed ball to give the Stars a 1-0 lead.

The Stars exploded for a five run fifth inning. With the bases loaded and two outs, Statia was plunked with a pitch by Floyd. Nick Shaw scored to make it 2-0. Ramirez then followed with a two-run single. Rogers connected right after with a two-run double over centerfielder Matt Lipka's head to make it 6-0.

The Stars then scored a season high six runs in the eighth. Ratterree recorded his first Double-A hit with a two run double. Adam Weisenburger also had an infield rbi single to push the lead to 10-0. Prince was walked with the bases loaded and Statia added an rbi single.

Greg Hopkins added a SAC Fly in the ninth for the Stars thirteenth and final run.

The Stars won three out of five from Mississippi and remain in first place in the Southern League North standings.

The Stars return to Huntsville Saturday night to begin a five-game series against the Mobile BayBears, the Double-A Affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks. As of now the Stars starter is TBA, while Mobile will send RHP A.J. Schugel(1-0, 1.54) to the mound.
