
Starrett Reassigned to Wichita

Wichita, KS - The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Edmonton Oilers, AHL's Bakersfield Condors and powered by Toyota, announced today that goaltender Shane Starrett has been reassigned to Wichita by Edmonton from Bakersfield.
Starrett, 24, is in his second season as a pro. A native of Bellingham, Massachusetts, the 6-foot-5, 195-pound netminder appeared in 38 games for the Thunder last year. He went 17-14-0 during his rookie campaign with a 3.01 goals-against average and .912 save percentage. He also backstopped the team in all six playoff games, going 2-3-1 with a 2.80 goals-against average and .915 save percentage.
Prior to turning pro, Starrett had a spectacular season at the Air Force Academy where he went 26-6-4 with a goals-against average of 1.99 and a 925 save percentage. He helped lead the Falcons to a top-15 finish nationally and the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Tournament. He left Air Force after his sophomore season and signed a contract this past April with the Oilers. As a freshman, he ranked 11th in the nation with a 1.92 goals-against average and fourth best in save percentage (924).
Wichita remains on the road this week with one game against Tulsa on Saturday night. The Thunder finishes a three-game road swing on Friday, November 2nd at Kansas City and will return to INTRUST Bank Arena on Sunday, November 4th at 4:05 p.m. to host the Utah Grizzlies.
