Bryan-College Station, TX (July 11, 2015) - On a beautiful Saturday night in the Brazos Valley, the Brazos Valley Bombers slugged their way to a dominant 20-5 victory in the first game of a two-game series against the Woodlands Strykers.
Saturday night saw the Bombers host Star Wars Night, highlighted by a successful pre-game proposal by TCL All-Star C.J. Gregory, a stormtrooper appearance, and special R2-D2 uniforms worn by the players, sponsored by Urban Optics. In addition to the Star Wars festivities; Saturday was also Kids Free Saturday, where children 13 and under received free admission thanks to Chicken Express.
On the field, the Bombers incredible offensive performance was led by Cellucor Player of the Game Tyler Lawrence, who went 4-for-6, with 5 runs scored, 2 RBI, and a solo home run. Darick Hall came off the bench and hit a grand slam in the bottom of the 8th inning to give the Bombers twenty runs scored on the night.
Mike Walker started the game on the mound for the Bombers and went six and one-third innings to earn the victory. Groom-to-be C.J. Gregory and Evan Karre came on in relief and shut the door out of the bullpen to secure the Bombers' commanding win.
The Bombers record is now 23-6 overall and 5-2 in the second half. The Bombers are currently in a three-way tie with the Victoria Generals and the East Texas PumpJacks for first-place in the second half.
