Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks News Release

FARGO, ND - Fargo-Moorhead starting pitcher T.J. Stanton tossed a complete game one-hitter to lead the RedHawks over the Kansas City T-Bones 3-0 on a chilly Friday night at Newman Outdoor Field. The win capped a perfect 6-0 postseason and gave the RedHawks back-to-back Northern League titles.

Stanton (1-0) punched out the first eight T-Bone hitters of the game and ended up with 14 strikeouts on the night. The righty tossed 143 pitches, 94 for strikes, and issued just one walk. Jacob Blackwood doubled in the sixth inning for the lone Kansas City hit.

Fargo-Moorhead started the scoring in the home half of the third inning. Right fielder Mike Coles led off with a single and third baseman Eric Campbell was hit by a pitch from Kansas City starter Andrew Cruse. An error by T-Bones third baseman Rico Washington then loaded the bases for left fielder Jeremiah Piepkorn. Piepkorn crushed a Cruse offering to left field for a double, scoring a pair of runs and giving the RedHawks an early 2-0 lead.

Campbell tacked on an insurance run in the fifth inning with a solo blast to left to extend the Fargo-Moorhead lead to 3-0.

Campbell was 2-for-3 on the night with an RBI and a pair of runs scored. Coles and Jackson also each went 2-for-4 at the plate for the RedHawks.

Kansas City starter Cruse (1-1) was saddled with the loss despite a gutsy complete game performance. He allowed all three Fargo-Moorhead runs (two earned) while striking out ten and not allowing a walk. The righty threw 142 pitches in the game.

Fargo-Moorhead first baseman Jesse Hoorelbeke was unanimously named the Northern League Finals MVP. Hoorelbeke hit .500 (6-for-12) with two home runs, eight RBI and scored three runs in three games against Kansas City.
