
Stamps Sign Thurmond, Thompson and Wilson

Calgary Stampeders News Release
The Calgary Stampeders have signed international defensive linemen Brandon Thurmond, Marcus Thompson and Ridge Wilson as free agents. As per team policy, terms of the agreements were not disclosed.
Brandon Thurmond
College: Arkansas-Pine Bluff
Height: 6.02
Weight: 260
Born: Feb. 15, 1990
Calgary first signed Thurmond as a free agent on Sept. 15, 2015, and he spent a month on the practice roster. He played one game for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2014. Thurmond was the Southwestern Athletic Conference defensive player of the year at Arkansas-Pine Bluff in 2012 after recording 17.5 sacks, three fumble recoveries, one forced fumble and one blocked kick.
Marcus Thompson
College: Rutgers
Height: 6.01
Weight: 250
Born: Oct. 9, 1990
Thompson played four seasons (2010-13) at Rutgers, seeing action at both linebacker and defensive end. He had had 51 tackles and 5.5 sacks as a senior in 2013 and was the team's co-MVP on defence. Thompson signed with the NFL's Miami Dolphins as an unrestricted free agent on May 12, 2014, and also spent time with the New Orleans Saints.
Ridge Wilson
College: West Alabama
Height: 6.04
Weight: 256
Born: Feb. 7, 1991
Wilson signed as undrafted free agent with the NFL's Kansas City Chiefs in 2013 and spent time on their practice roster. He was the Gulf South Conference defensive player of the year at West Alabama in 2012 after a season in which he had nine sacks and eight tackles for loss as well as two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.
In another roster move, international offensive lineman Garry Williams has been released. Williams made 11 regular-season starts for the Stamps in 2015 and also played in both playoff contests.
