Stamps Sign Four Internationals

The Calgary Stampeders have signed four free-agent internationals including receiver Carlton Mitchell, who has 10 games of CFL experience and 16 in the NFL. Also signed are defensive lineman Quayshawne Buckley, running back Lache Seastrunk and defensive back Mylan Hicks.

Carlton Mitchell

Receiver

College: South Florida

Height: 6.03

Weight: 215

Born: Apr. 6, 1988

Mitchell was selected in the sixth round (177th overall) by the Cleveland Browns in the 2010 National Football League draft. He played 16 games over the 2010 and 2011 seasons for Cleveland and had three receptions for 31 yards and one carry for nine yards. He was also with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tampa Bay Buccaneers before signing with the Edmonton Eskimos in 2013. He played two games for Edmonton in 2013 and was selected eighth overall by the Ottawa RedBlacks in the CFL expansion draft. In 10 career CFL games, he has 22 catches for 239 yards. Mitchell attended training camp with the Atlanta Falcons in 2015.

Mitchell played three seasons (2007-09) at South Florida before choosing to forego his senior season and enter the NFL draft. He set the Bulls' single-season record in 2009 with 706 receiving yards to go along with 40 catches and four touchdowns. Over his career, he had 105 catches for 1,648 yards and nine majors. He was the school's all-time leader in receiving yards when he left South Florida.

Quayshawne Buckley

College: Idaho

Born: Aug. 25, 1991

Calgary first signed Buckley as a free agent on Sept. 15, 2015, and he spent six weeks on the practice roster. He signed with the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers on May 5, 2015, as an undrafted free agent and was released on Aug. 31, 2015. Buckley played four seasons (2011-14) at Idaho and accumulated 162 tackles, including 35 tackles for loss and 12 sacks.

Lache Seastrunk

College: Baylor

Height: 5.09

Weight: 200

Born: July 29, 1991

Seastrunk was selected in the sixth round (186th overall) by the Washington Redskins in the 2014 National Football League draft. He has been on the practice roster for the Carolina Panthers and Tennessee Titans and he attended training camp with the Dallas Cowboys in 2015. Seastrunk played two seasons (2012-13) at Baylor and surpassed the 1,000-yard in rushing both years. He earned all-Big 12 first-team honours in 2013 after rushing for 1,177 yards and scoring 11 touchdowns. He averaged 7.4 yards per carry and 107 yards per game. In 2012, he rushed for 1,012 yards and seven TDs.

Mylan Hicks

Defensive back

College: Michigan State

Height: 5.11

Weight: 196

Born: Jan. 21, 1993

Hicks signed with the National Football League's San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent on May 18, 2015, and he was released at the conclusion of training camp. He played four seasons (2011-14) at Michigan State. Despite missing four games with an arm injury in 2014, he set a career high with 19 tackles and also had four pass breakups. He was the Spartans defence's recipient of the Biggie Munn Award for being the most inspirational player.
