Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce that non-import receiver Blaine Kruger has signed a contract extension with the club. As per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

"Blaine has good size and extremely good hands," said Hufnagel. "He played three games for us as a rookie in 2009 and adapted well to the Canadian Football League game."

Kruger spent most of 2009 on the team's practice roster but he made his CFL debut on Aug. 8 against Winnipeg. He dressed for two other games in 2009 but did not record any stats.

"Last season was an excellent learning opportunity for me," said Kruger. "Now I'm just focused on getting ready for training camp and hopefully I can take what I learned last year, continue to improve and contribute wherever possible this season."

Kruger, a native of Cochrane, Alta., played with the University of British Columbia in 2008 and with the Victoria Rebels of the British Columbia Football Conference from 2005-07.
