September 1, 2023 - Canadian Football League (CFL)
Calgary Stampeders News Release
Continuing a tradition started in 2015, the Calgary Stampeders will be holding Canadian Armed Forces Appreciation Day at Monday's Labour Day Classic at McMahon Stadium.
There will be acknowledgements of the Canadian Armed Forces before, during and after the Red and White's annual grudge match against the Edmonton Elks as more than 300 members of the CAF will be special guests of the Stampeders. Kickoff for the contest is 5 p.m. MDT.
The game will be preceded by a CF-18 Hornet flyover, a ceremonial flag party involving CAF members and the performance of the national anthem by a trio from the Royal Canadian Air Force Band.
Following the game, members of the military will be on the field to meet with Stampeders players and pose for a group photo.
The Stamps Store will be selling a special Military Appreciation cap for $40 (plus GST) with partial proceeds being donated to Support our Troops and the Military Family Resource Centre through the Stampeders Foundation.
