Calgary Stampeders News Release

The Calgary Stampeders host the Toronto Argonauts in Thursday's Canada Day Kickoff. The game is presented by Grey Eagle Casino and kickoff is set for 8 p.m. at McMahon Stadium.

The Stampeders and Argonauts meet for the first of two meetings this season as Calgary travels to Toronto on July 14. The clubs met twice in 2009 with Calgary winning both contests. The Red and White defeated Toronto 44-19 on July 17 at McMahon Stadium and 23-20 in Toronto on Aug. 28.

The Stamps enter Week 1 looking to carry some momentum forward from the pre-season, during which they were victorious against Edmonton and Saskatchewan. The Argos aim to bounce back after dropping their final tune-up game to Montreal. Toronto defeated Hamilton in their first pre-season contest.

Tickets

Tickets are still available for the Canada Day game and all Stamps home games. Fans are encouraged to get theirs through Ticketmaster (403-777-0000 or visit Ticketmaster.ca), the Stampeders' Ticket Office (403-289-0258 or toll free at 1-800-667-3267), Stampeders.com or by visiting local Safeway and Sport Chek locations.

Fans are also reminded that 2010 Stamps season tickets are available now and will only be sold until kickoff on Canada Day. Fans wishing to purchase season tickets should contact the Stampeders Ticket Office today.

Following Thursday's game, Stamps Power Packs and single-game tickets will continue to be available and fans are encouraged to contact the Stampeders' Ticket Office to get theirs.

Game-day experience

The first 15,000 fans through the gates on Thursday will receive a hand-held Canadian flag. At halftime, the Stamps will honour Canadian athletes that competed in the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics in an on-field presentation. Following the game, fans are encouraged to stay in their seats for a special Canada Day fireworks display.

The 2010 season promises to be a special one for the Stampeders as the club celebrates its 65th year anniversary as well as the 50th anniversary of McMahon Stadium. Throughout the season, the Stamps will celebrate some of the memorable moments of their history, their city and, of course, their fans.

Game days throughout 2010 will see a renewed emphasis on the fan experience at McMahon Stadium. Fans will continue to be able to compete on the McMahon turf for great prizes through new and exciting promotions while longtime fan favourites like the Calgary Stampeder Outriders and Ralph the Dog will be back and more involved than ever. No game-day experience is complete without a visit to the stadium concessions, where fans can pick up refreshments for the same affordable prices as last season.

The weekly StampsConnect contest series is back again for 2010. One lucky Stamps fan will win a SIRIUS Starmate 5 Plug-and-Play satellite radio with six months of free service for posting their Stamps-related photos on StampsConnect. Visit www.stampsconnect.com for more details.
