Calgary Stampeders News Release
The Stampeders Foundation is proud to announce two new programs in support of the local grassroots and amateur football community.
The Foundation has made $25,000 in funding available for amateur and grassroots football programs working to grow the game of football through the Stampeders Foundation Grow the Game Fund. This program will promote and support the introduction of football to new participants.
In addition, the Foundation has also made $25,000 in funding available for amateur and grassroots football programs to support their ongoing operations, development and growth. The Stampeders Foundation Development Fund will help support the health and future of amateur and grassroots football teams and associations in our community.
"We know this has been a hard time for sports teams and groups in our community, specifically football," said Alex Snell, the Stampeders' senior manager of business operations. "It is our goal, through the creation of these two programs, that the Stampeders Foundation help provide assistance to existing football teams and players while also working to grow the game of football."
The Stampeders Foundation is fully committed to the support of amateur and grassroots football in Calgary and Southern Alberta communities. In addition to promoting access to all levels of football, the Stampeders Foundation is proud to support a number of health, wellness and education initiatives through player involvement and in-game programming. Since 2012, the Stampeders Foundation has donated more than $3.6 million to football projects in southern Alberta, including a seasonal air-supported shelter at Shouldice Athletic Park.
