
Stampede Weekly Update: Herd Host Lancers Tomorrow Night

Sioux Falls Stampede News Release
The Sioux Falls Stampede (10-13-1) host the Omaha Lancers tomorrow (Wednesday) night at 7:05 PM! This will be the Lancers first trip to Sioux Falls this season. The Herd are 0-1-1 in two games so far against Omaha. The Lancers are 15-10-2 on the season and in second place in the Western Conference.
After Wednesday's game, the Stampede will hit the road for games in Lincoln and Des Moines this Friday and Saturday night. Lincoln enters the week in first place in the West with a 17-9-2 record while Des Moines is 11-12-2 and in sixth place in the West.
Sioux Falls returns home next weekend for games against Omaha and Dubuque on January 13th and 14th.
Inside Stampede Hockey to air live from Buffalo Wild Wings next Monday
Fans, mark your calendars for next Monday, January 9th for a special edition of Inside Stampede Hockey, live from the original Buffalo Wild Wings on West Avenue (across from Pheasants baseball stadium).
The show will air from 5-6 PM on Sports Radio 1230-AM KWSN. Fans can watch the show live, plus meet several Stampede players and head coach Kevin Hartzell. Fans will also have a chance to win some special Stampede prizes during the show!
Stampede viewing party January 16
Just because the Stampede are on the road doesn't mean you have to miss any of the action! The first Stampede viewing party of the season will take place on Monday, January 16th versus Fargo. Fans can catch the game on all the TV big screens at both Sioux Falls locations (across from Pheasants stadium & the new South Louise Avenue location) starting at 7 PM.
Below are the dates of the games that will be shown at Buffalo Wild Wings:
* Monday, January 16th at Fargo 7 PM
* Friday, January 27th vs Sioux City 7 PM
* Friday, February 10th at Des Moines 7 PM
* Friday, March 2nd at Sioux City 7 PM
Bickel, Rangers take NHL Winter Classic in Philly
Former Stampede defenseman Stu Bickel and the New York Rangers defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 3-2 in a thrilling NHL Winter Classic Monday afternoon at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.
Bickel logged 8:17 of ice time and finished the day a +1 for the Rangers who improved to an NHL best 24-9-4 on the season.
Bickel was a key member of the Stampede's Clark Cup championship team (2006-07), recording 13 points (2g, 11a) and a franchise record 215 penalty minutes.
Carroll, Ford, Holmstrom & Micflikier to meet in AHL outdoor game
Former Stampede stars Andrew Carroll, Matt Ford, Ben Holmstrom and Jacob Micflikier will square off outside on Friday night when Holmstrom's Adirondack Phantoms face Carroll, Ford and Micflikier's Hershey Bears at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia at 6 PM (Central). It's part of the American Hockey League's outdoor game.
The Phantoms are the top affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers while the Bears are the top affiliate of the Washington Capitals.
Holmstrom (2003-06) is captain of the Phantoms and has already been called up twice this season by the Flyers. At 24, Holmstrom is the youngest captain in Phantoms history. He is third on the team with 18 points (9g, 9a) in 28 games.
Micflikier (2001-03) is having one of his best seasons as a pro, recording 37 points (12g, 25a) in 33 games for the Bears. He ranks sixth overall in AHL scoring. Ford (2003-04) has 22 points (9g, 13a) in 28 games while Carroll (2003-05) has two assists and 72 penalty minutes in 32 games.
