
Stampede Weekly Update: Herd Head East this Weekend

Sioux Falls Stampede News Release
The Sioux Falls Stampede (7-7-1) hit the road for their longest trip of the season when they travel to Youngstown and Indianapolis this Thursday and Friday.
Youngstown is in third place in the Eastern Conference with a 12-5-0 record and have won four straight games and five of their last six. The Indiana Ice are 10-5-2 and in fourth place in the East. They are 3-2-0 in their last five games.
Stampede fall in Kearney
The Stampede closed out their three-game week with a 4-1 setback in Kearney, Nebraska last night against the Tri-City Storm. Kyle Rankin tallied the only goal of the game for the Stampede while Charlie Lindgren stopped 40 shots in goal for the Herd.
The Stampede began the week with a 3-2 overtime win over the Fargo Force on Wednesday. Ed McGovern tallied the game winner 1:19 into the extra session. The Herd the fell 2-1 to the Lincoln Stars at the Sioux Falls Arena on Friday.
The Stampede just completed an 11-game swing against Western Conference opponents in which they went 6-4-1.
The Herd have six games before the Christmas break, three against Eastern Conference teams and three against Western Conference teams.
Fans make blood drive a success!
The Stampede would like to thank all the fans who came out and donated blood during the 10th annual "Score One For Life Blood Drive." The Blood Bank drew 66 units of live saving blood, helping 198 patients and their families! Thank you to everyone who participated!

Ronald McDonald House night December 9th
The Stampede are teaming up with the Ronald McDonald House Charities of South Dakota on Friday, December 9th. There will be a silent auction of sports memorabilia in the front lobby starting when the doors open through the second intermission. It will help benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of South Dakota. Chuck-a-Puck proceeds will also benefit the charity and one (1) lucky fan could win two (2) free airline tickets from Allegiant Air!
Broadhurst leading the way at UNO
Former Stampede star Terry Broadhurst (2007-09) leads the University of Nebraska at Omaha Mavericks in scoring through the first 15 games. He has 21 points on 14 goals and 7 assists, fifth best in the nation. Broadhurst tallied two goals, including the game winner, and an assist in a 4-3 win over St. Cloud State on Saturday.

Thomas Vanek (1999-02) is fourth in the NHL in scoring with 26 points (12g, 14a) in 23 games....Chad LaRose (1999-2001) is second in scoring with the Carolina Hurricanes with 14 points (6g, 8a) in 24 games...Jeff Prough (2003-04) leads the Greenville Road Warriors (ECHL) with 18 points (10g, 8a)...John Murray (2003-05) made 37 saves and earned his first shutout of the season for the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League (CHL). He has now won four straight starts....Chad Ruhwedel is tied for the team lead with 11 points (2g, 9a) in 10 games with UMass-Lowell.
