Stampede Weekly Update: First Place Stampede Close out Road Trip this Weekend

The Sioux Falls Stampede (15-7-1) close out their four-game road trip with games in Lincoln and Omaha this Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday, the Herd visit The Ice Box in Lincoln to face the Stars in a battle for first place in the West. Lincoln enters the weekend with a 14-6-1 record and just two points behind the Stampede for first place. Game time is 7:05 PM.

On Sunday, Sioux Falls visits Omaha and the brand new Ralston Arena at 5:05 PM. The Lances are on a roll, winning 9 of their last 11 games to improve to 13-11-0 overall and just five points behind the Stampede for first. Both games can be heard on KELO-AM 1320 and online at www.keloam.com

Stampede win back-to-back games, move into first place

The Stampede moved into first place in the Western Conference with wins over Tri-City and Sioux City this past weekend.

On Friday, Charlie Lindgren stopped 41 shots to earn his second shutout of the season as the Herd topped Tri-City, 2-0. On Sunday, Cody Milan, Preston Hodge and C.J. Franklin all scored in a 3-1 win at Sioux City.

The Herd hold a one-point lead over Waterloo in the West entering this week's games.

Inside Stampede Hockey broadcasts live from Buffalo Wild Wings TONIGHT!

Inside Stampede Hockey will broadcast live from the West Avenue Buffalo Wild Wings tonight (Monday from 5-6 PM)! It will be the third of six shows that will broadcast live from the West Avenue Wild Wings location.

It's your chance to watch the show plus meet head coach Cary Eades along with players Tony Calderone, C.J. Franklin and Kyle Schempp.

Fans can enjoy 2-for-1 burgers and all day happy hour specials while enjoying the show.

Stampede Bus Trips set for Feb. 2 and 23rd

The Stampede are putting together two bus road trips for fans in February. The first will take place on Saturday, February 2nd when the Herd travel to Sioux City. The cost is $25 for a seat on the bus and a ticket to the game.

The second game will take place on Saturday, Feb 22nd when the Stampede travel to Omaha and play inside the brand new Ralston Arena. The cost is $35 for a seat on the bus and a ticket to the game.

Stampede return home next weekend

Start your Christmas celebration with the Stampede next weekend when the team returns home for a pair of games. On Friday, December 21st the Herd will host Tri-City and on Saturday, December 22nd the Stampede host Cedar Rapids. Both games begin at 7:05 PM and tickets are available through the Sioux Falls Arena Box Office or any Ticketmaster location.

On Saturday, be amongst the first 1,000 fans through the doors and receive a special Stampede Santa hat! Plus kids will have a chance to meet Santa in person and even get a photo with him before he heads back to the North Pole! Christmas music will be played throughout the night and even the intermission games will have a special holiday feel to them!

Four former goalies rank in top 20 nationally

Four former Stampede goaltenders are ranked in the top 20 of all collegiate goaltenders nationally through the first part of the college season.

Eric Hartzell (2007-09) ranks second overall in the country with a 1.28 goals-against-average (GAA) for Quinnipiac. He is 12-2-2 on the season and has won four straight games and is undefeated in his last 10 games (9-0-1) for the Bobcats. His 12 wins are the most of any goaltender in the country. The Bobcats are a perfect 8-0-0 in ECAC play.

Stephon Williams (2010-12) ranks sixth with a 1.61 GAA with Minnesota State-Mankato. Since starting the season 0-3-1, Williams has won six straight games for the Mavericks and moved them into third place in the WCHA.

Juho Olkinuora (2010-11) ranks 18th with a 2.09 GAA. He is 3-1-2 with Denver, helping put the Pioneers in first place in the WCHA.

Jay Williams (2011-12) has taken over the number one role at Miami and is 19th in the country with a 2.14 GAA. He has an 8-2-2 record while leading the RedHawks to a seven-game unbeaten streak (5-0-2). Miami is currently second in the CCHA.

All four schools are likely to be ranked in the top 20 when the polls come out late Monday afternoon.
