Sioux Falls, SD-Nearly a week after one of their worst performances of the early season, the Stampede put together one of their best as they rallied to roll over the Green Bay Gamblers 7-2 before 5,076 fans at the PREMIER Center Friday night. Trailing 2-1 early in the second, the Stampede went on to score six unanswered goals to snap their five game winless streak and improve to 3-4-1 on the season.

Josh Passolt led the way with two goals while Austin Albrecht, Jack Doremus and Eric MacAdams all tallied a goal and an assist in the win. Mikhail Berdin was brilliant between the pipes, stopping 35 of 37 shots to earn his first career USHL win in goal and helped lead the Herd to their first home win since opening night.

Sioux Falls ran into penalty trouble early, but it would be the Stampede taking advantage 7:31 into the contest. Josh Passolt blocked a shot from the Stampede blue line that bounced to center ice where he quickly raced past the defense and skated in on a breakaway where he wristed the puck under the pads of Green Bay goaltender David Hrenak for his first of the season. It marked the second shorthanded goal of the season for the Herd. The Gamblers would respond at 12:02 when Mikhail Berdin's clearing attempt was blocked by Nolan Moyle who picked up the puck and sent a pass to the bottom of the right circle for Matt Jennings who wristed a shot past the stick side of Berdin to make it a 1-1 game. Sioux Falls outshot Green Bay 10-8 in the period.

In the second, the Gamblers took their first lead of the night just 7:33 into the period when John Leonard took the puck in the high slot and slapped a shot off the right goal post and into the net past Berdin. The celebration would be short lived, however as the Stampede responded with three unanswered goals. Jason O'Neil found Eric MacAdams open down the left wing wall at the 10:00 minute mark and MacAdams cut into the slot and wristed a shot past Hrenak to tie the game 2-2. Three minutes later Jack Doremus picked up a bouncing puck in the left circle and cut into the high slot where he fired a shot into the upper right hand corner of the net. The Stamped weren't done scoring just yet as Paul DeNaples and MacAdams teamed up to find Austin Albrecht open at the blue line and Albrecht broke free on a breakaway and faked on the forehand and shot from the backhand, over the shoulder of Hrenak at 16:58 to give the Herd a 4-2 advantage heading into the third period. Sioux Falls outshot the Gamblers 14-10 in the period.

Sioux Falls didn't slow down in the third as they kept the scoring coming. Jack Doremus sent a pass in the air through the slot to Josh Passolt who skated in and batted it in midair and into the net to give Sioux Falls a commanding 5-2 lead just 3:30 into the period. The Herd would find themselves shorthanded later in the period and Green Bay pulled their goaltender for an extra attacker. The Stampede penalty kill remained strong and Alex Stevens cleared the puck the length of the ice as the penalty expired, allowing Jake Johnson to jump out of the box, track down the puck an shoot it into the empty net for his first career USHL goal and a 6-2 lead for Sioux Falls. The Stampede put the game away for good at 16:22 of the period when Leonard Forselius took a pass from Austin Albrecht, broke through a defender and went top shelf past Hrenak to make it 7-2.

Green Bay outshot the Herd 19-13 in the period, but shots were even at 37 a piece at the end of the game. The Gamblers finished 1-for-4 on the power play while the Stampede had no power play chances in the game.

The Stampede will go for the sweep Saturday night when they host the Gamblers at 7:05 PM. The first 1,500 kids 12-and-under will receive a free Stampede replica jersey, compliments of Waterbury Heating & Cooling and Coleman Heating & Air Conditioning. Doors open at 6 PM and tickets are available through the PREMIER Center or any Ticketmaster outlet.
