Sioux Falls, SD - The Sioux Falls Stampede are headed back to the Clark Cup Playoffs after clinching a berth in the postseason Sunday after Fargo defeated Sioux City 3-1. The Herd return to postseason play after missing the playoffs last year. Sioux Falls has qualified for the Clark Cup Playoffs 14 times during their 19-year history in the USHL.
The top six teams in each conference make the playoffs this season with the top two seeds in each conference receiving first round byes. The #3 seed hosts the #6 seed and the #4 seed hosts the #5 seed in a best-of-three first-round series with the winners advancing to the Western Conference Semi-Final. The 2018 Clark Cup Playoffs begin the week of April 16th.
The Stampede (30-15-8) currently sit in fourth place in the Western Conference with 68 points, trail third place Omaha by just one point and are just three points behind Waterloo and Fargo for first place in the West with just seven games remaining in the regular season.
Season ticket holders received playoff information in the mail last week and should contact the Stampede office at 336-6060 with any questions. Single game ticket information will become available in the coming weeks when the official playoff schedule is determined. With a 4-3 win last night at Tri-City the Stampede captured their 30th win of the year, marking the seventh time in the last nine seasons they have tallied at least 30 wins in a season.
The Stampede continue their push for a first round bye this weekend when they return home to the PREMIER Center to host Waterloo and Fargo at 7:05 PM inside the PREMIER Center. Friday night fans are encouraged to bring their skates to the game and skate on the PREMIER Center ice right after the game. On Saturday, the Stampede are hosting an Easter Egg hunt inside the Birdcage starting at 5:30 PM prior to the Herd's game against Tri-City. Tickets for both games are available through the KELOLAND Box Office or any Ticketmaster outlet.
