Stampede and Local Basque Community to Entertain Fans Tuesday

BOISE, ID- January 23, 2004- The Idaho Stampede, the Treasure Valley's professional basketball team, along with the local Basque community, have partnered together to sponsor "Basque Night" for the team's next home game on Tuesday, January 27, at the Idaho Center.
The evening's festivities will begin with Borah High's music teacher, Ted Totorica, performing the Basque National Anthem and Idaho's Secretary of State, Ben Ysursa, putting for a local charity. BoiseKo Gasteak Basque Dancers will perform an authentic and traditional dance during half time. The BoiseKo Gasteak Basque Dancers range in ages between 4 and 14, and are under the leadership of director Linda Baringa of Kuna, ID.
The Idaho Center's Thomas Management will prepare an authentic Basque dish at the Hard Court Café for those patrons looking to dine during the game and in honor of the special evening. The majority of the Basque's living in Boise had ancestors that emigrated from the province of Bizkaia. These people were known to be honest, hard working and most of all huge basketball fans.
Tickets for Tuesday's home game against the league leading Dakota Wizards are still available for purchase.
