Stallions Score Late in Cantine Field Victory

Saugerties Stallions News Release


The Saugerties Stallions (16-12) took down the Glens Falls Dragons (8-21) 9-4 after an 8-run 7th inning for the Stallions. Jeff Hayner picks up the win for Saugerties and Brandt Sundean gets the loss for the Dragons.

The Stallions struck first on Monday night. Saugerties' Dylan Lifreri flew out to Evan St. Clair in right field to score Fritz Genther to take a 1-0 lead. Saugerties' lead would last until the 5th inning.

Joseph Impeduglia drove in the first run of the game for the Dragons in the top of the 5th inning to even the score at 1-1. This was the first hit of the day for Glens Falls.

Both teams saw five inning performances for their starting pitchers. Austin Cole for Saugerties and Christopher Difiore of Glens Falls left the game for their respective teams in a 1-1 ball game.

The Dragons would take the lead in the 7th on a Zach Strickland wild pitch that scored Brad Hipsley. The Dragons added to their lead on an Evan St. Clair double off Jeff Hayner in the first batter of the evening for Hayner. Carson Dunkel scored to take a 3-1 lead in the top of the 7th.

Saugerties responded with an 8-run 7th inning. Fritz Genther started the scoring by lining out to center to score the first run and make it 3-2. Jake Skrine came up two batters later to deliver a 3-run double and give Saugerties the 5-3 lead. Lifreri and Ledford would later single to drive in runs to make it a 9-3 lead when the inning ended. The 7th inning saw eight runs, twelve batters, and five hits for Saugerties.

The Stallions resume action on Wednesday in Amsterdam. The Dragons' next game is on the road against Adirondack on Wednesday as well.
