Worcester Bravehearts News Release

WORCESTER, Mass. - How do you follow up Frankie Moscatiello's (St. Thomas Aquinas/Rocky Point, N.Y) record setting performance a day later? Well, if you're Worcester starter Greg Stagani (West Liberty/Richmond, OH), you go seven strong innings, allowing just one run on three hits, and striking out 10 Bristol Blues' batters en route to a 2-1 victory in front of 3,672 fans at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field in Worcester, MA.

It was a pitcher's dual through and through, as both Greg Stagani and Bristol starter John Arel (Maine/Burlington, CT) pitched well for their clubs. Stagani picked up his second win of the summer. Arel, who lasted five innings, giving up two runs on five hits, walking two batters and striking out seven, took the loss for the Blues.

Bristol struck first in the second inning, as Liam Scafariello (San Jacinto/Plantsville, CT) blasted a solo homerun out to left center field to give Bristol a 1-0 lead. That wouldn't last for much longer though.

In the bottom of the second, Dante Ricciardi (St. Petersburg/West Boylston, MA) tied things up with an RBI-single, making it 1-1. Just an inning later, Chad Miller (Saint Leo/Sarasota, FL) drove home Mike Coggeshall (Assumption/Shrewsbury, MA) on a fielder's choice to give the Bravehearts the lead for good, 2-1.

Worcester's Peter Bovenzi (Richmond/Lunenburg, MA) closed out the last two innings, getting the save while striking out three Blues in the process.

The Worcester Bravehearts next play on Saturday, June 18th at 7:05PM at against the Martha's Vineyard Sharks in Martha's Vineyard, MA. Tickets for all future Bravehearts games are available at the Hanover Insurance Field box office, online at worcesterbravehearts.com, or by calling 508-438-3773.
