ST. LOUIS (Thursday, March 3, 2005) – The Milwaukee Wave fell to the St. Louis Steamers 6-5 today at the Savvis Center, snapping the Wave's six game winning streak and putting an end to the Steamers four game losing streak. St. Louis collected four unanswered goals in the second quarter to take a 5-2 lead before the half. Although the Wave cut the lead down to one on two occasions, the team could not overcome the deficit. The season series is now tied at 3-3 between Milwaukee and St. Louis, with two games remaining in the regular season between the two clubs.

The Milwaukee Wave got on the board first with an unassisted goal by Michael King at 3:10 of the first period, after King was able to collect the deflection off a Steamers player. The Steamers answered with a goal of its own at 13:04 as Matt Caution was able to blast a shot past Wave keeper Nick Vorberg. Just seconds after the St. Louis goal, Jeff DiMaria was sent to the penalty box and Greg Howes tallied the power-play goal at 13:58 off the assist from Ricardinho.

The St. Louis Steamers opened up the scoring in the second quarter, collecting four unanswered goals. The first came as Joe Reiniger found Mariano Bollella off the restart at 4:31. The Steamers took the 3-2 lead as Daryl Doran (10:16) caught his own rebound and was able to slide the ball into the back of the net.

Back-to-back goals by Reiniger following a holding penalty by Joe Hammes gave the Steamers a 5-2 advantage heading into the intermission. St. Louis was awarded a shoot out following the penalty and Reiniger converted for the score at 12:24. St. Louis continued its offensive attack on the power-play as Doran slid the ball to Reiniger (14:35) who sent a low bouncer to the near post for the last goal of the half.

The Wave got on the board first in the third period as Chris Morman cracked a shot into the back of the net off the assist from Giuliano Oliviero. The Wave cut the Steamers lead to one as Oliviero recorded the goal following a cross field pass from Angel Rivillo at 14:10.

The Steamers pushed its lead back to two with a long range left foot shot from Walton at 2:57 of the fourth period. Milwaukee got back within one with a restart goal by Semir Mesanovic off the pass from Howes with just more than two minutes left to go. The Wave could not complete the comeback and fell to the Steamers for the third time this season, evening the season series at 3-3.

The Wave returns home to "The Cell", U.S. Cellular Arena, on March 6 at 1 p.m. to host the Philadelphia KiXX. Sunday is Russian Nesting Doll Giveaway Day. Three Wave players (Greg Howes, Pat White and Johnny Torres) are depicted as the popular Russian souvenir, the nesting (stacking) doll. The first 2,500 fans will receive this item of Wave memorabilia. The next Sunday, March 13, will be the Green Jersey Auction to benefit the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin.

In 2001, the Wave transitioned to being a successful member of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL).
