St. Joseph Blacksnakes News Release

El Paso, TX-St. Joe (14-18) knocked off El Paso (12-21) in an offense-ruled evening at Cohen Stadium, 19-12. The 'Snakes 19 runs were the highest in a single-game by any team in the league this season.

It looked like the 'Snakes would cruise when they struck with a big seven run second inning. But the Diablos then scored six times in the bottom of the second, all after two were out and it was 7-6 after two innings.

Then the Blacksnakes would take over. Matt Johnson (2-2) came in and allowed just a run over 3 1/3 innings while the offense plated two more runs in the fourth for a 9-6 lead. Then they erupted for two in the sixth, five in the seventh and three more in the eighth to blow it open, 19-7. El Paso rallied for five in the eighth but would not threaten the lead.

The offense pounded out a season-high 19 hits, led by Jake Whitesides' four hits. Wil Quintana and Mark Burke each had three hits, with Burke driving in five runs.

St. Joe has won 9 of their last 11 games and head to Shreveport for a weekend series between the two hottest teams in the league. Shreveport has won eight in a row.

Friday's series opener pits St. Joe's Donovan Graves (2-2) against the Shreveport Sports' T.J. Hendricks (1-0) at 7:05pm Central. The broadcast hits the web at 6:45pm with the Heartland Health Pre-Game Show.
