
St. Joe Finds Road Legs in Win Over Shreveport

Shreveport, LA-St. Joe's (15-18) bats continued a torrid stretch with a 9-3 win to open the series in Shreveport (17-16). St. Joe took their third of the first four games on this six-game road trip. The win was the Blacksnakes' 10th in 12th games and ended the Sports' eight-game winning streak.
Donovan Graves (3-2) went seven strong innings and St. Joe never trailed.
The teams traded runs in the second to tie, 1-1. The âSnakes then plated three unearned runs in the fourth for a 4-1 lead on RBIs by Jimmy Mojica, Scooter Jordan and Ben Thomas. St. Joe tacked on a single run in the fifth before Shreveport got a pair in the fifth to make it 5-3, St. Joe.
Then the âSnakes put it away with a run in the sixth and three more in the eighth to make it 9-3.
Wil Quintana had three hits, including his eighth home run of the year to tie Sioux City's Jorge Moreno for the league lead. Quintana has homered in three straight games and both he and Jimmy Mojica had three runs batted in.
The offense has now pounded out 51 hits and 38 runs over the last three games-all wins.
The two teams continue the series Saturday night at Fair Grounds Field at 7:05pm. Jesen Merle (1-1) will make a spot start for St. Joe against Shreveport's Ryan Snyder (2-1). The broadcast begins with the Heartland Health Pre-Game Show at 6:45pm.
