
St. Joe Pitcher Picks Up Pitcher of the Month Honors

St. Joseph, MO-The Blacksnakes were the hottest team in the American Association in June, going a league-best 20-7. They also had the hottest pitcher in the league.
The American Association announced the Kansas City, MO native was selected by Sportsticker, the American Association's official statistician, as the Pitcher of the Month for June.
Nussbeck, 32, was 4-1 in six starts with a 1.76 earned run average and a complete game. In 41.0 innings pitched, he allowed just 24 hits with 41 strikeouts. His only loss in the month was earlier in the week when he threw a complete game against Sioux Falls.
Earlier in the month, the right-hander was honored as the Pitcher of the Week for June 5-11.
Overall this season, the Blacksnakes' pitching coach is 4-2 with a league-leading 1.76 earned run average in eight games started.
Nussbeck was a 29th round draft pick by St. Louis in 1996 and has spent time with the Baltimore Orioles organization and with Camden, of the independent Atlantic League.
El Paso's third baseman J.P. Schmidt was named league's Batter of the Month for June.
