SHREVEPORT, LA-The St. Joe Blacksnakes (12-12, 38-34) took their fourth victory in the first five games of this southern road trip with a 7-1 victory in Shreveport (11-13, 37-35). St. Joe rode another strong pitching night to even their series with the Sports.

Mark Nussbeck (7-3) was outstanding yet again, and continued the trend of strong pitching for the Blacksnakes. He delivered their fifth quality start in the past six games, allowing just one run on five hits over six innings. Nussbeck struck out nine and leads the league with 90 strikeouts.

The Blacksnakes offense showed up early, with a run in the second and three more in the third. Cody Nowlin provided a two-run double during the four-hit third inning rally. The 'Snakes added to the lead with an unearned run in the fourth when Cory Harris delivered a two-out single to make it 5-0.

After Shreveport's Chad Gambill hit a solo home run to make it 5-1 in the fourth, the Blacksnakes put the game away with single runs in the seventh and ninth for the 7-1 win.

Eight of the nine St. Joe hitters recorded hits, with all nine reaching base. Cory Harris and Cody Nowlin-batting third and fourth in the order-combined for six hits and five runs batted in to lead the way.

The Blacksnakes wrap up this six-game southern swing with Tuesday's series finale with the Sports. Donovan Graves (7-3) starts opposite Bert Snow (6-3) for the Sports, with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05pm. The broadcast can be heard at www.stjoeblacksnakes.com at 6:45pm with the Heartland Health Pre-Game Show.
