Fort Worth 5, Pensacola 1 (Game 1 - 7 Innings)

Fort Worth starting pitcher Kevin Hull and 2B Kip Harkrider lead the way in helping the Cats beat the Pelicans in game one of the doubleheader. Hull pitched 6 2/3 innings allowing only one run, which was unearned, on seven hits with four strikeouts to notch his sixth win. Harkrider, on the other hand, went 3-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored and two RBI, including his first home run of the season. RF Carlos Adolfo for Fort Worth also chipped in a 1-for-3 outing with a run scored, two RBI, and his eighth home run of the season.

LF Matt Spencer goes 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI to lead the Cats to victory and a doubleheader sweep of the Pelicans. With the sweep tonight, Fort Worth extends its lead over Coastal Bend to two games in the South Division. Joel Kirsten notches his fifth win of the year for Fort Worth as he goes five innings giving up a run on three hits with two strikeouts. Steve Wilkerson pitches two innings of relief allowing only a hit to record his 11th save of the season. 1B Tim Dorn hit his sixth home run of the season for Pensacola.

St. Joe 7, Shreveport 1

St. Joe would score a run in the second inning and three more in the third inning to take a 4-0 through three innings and cruise to an easy victory over Shreveport. LF Cory Harris and DH Cody Nowlin each had 3-for-5 nights with a run scored for the Blacksnakes. Mark Nussbeck continued his solid pitching as he picked up his seventh win of the season going six innings allowing an earned run on five hits with nine strikeouts. Nussbeck now has 90 strikeouts on the season which leads the league. For the Sports, they were led tonight by DH Chad Gambill who went 1-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI, including his seventh homer of the season.

St. Paul 14, Sioux City 9

St. Paul and Sioux City brought the bats tonight as they would combine for 23 runs on 36 hits with the Saints coming out on top. CF Chaz Lytle had four hits in the game for St. Paul with 2B Josh Renick and SS Brian Sprout adding three hits apiece. Charlie Ruud pushed his record over the .500 mark to 5-4 by going 6 2/3 innings allowing nine runs, six earned, on 11 hits with four strikeouts. For Sioux City, they had 15 hits in the game with LF Jorge Moreno and C Chris Grossman going a combined 6-for-10 with Moreno hitting his 16th home run of the year. That home run is good for a tie for first in the league with St. Joe's Wil Quintana.

Lincoln 20, Sioux Falls 15

The offense was on display in Sioux Falls as Lincoln and Sioux Falls together scored 35 runs on 47 hits along with 11 doubles with the Saltdogs outlasting the Canaries to pick up their 16th victory of the second half. 2B Josh Patton and LF Pichi Balet were the leaders for the Saltdogs as they would go a combined 10-for-11 at the plate with seven runs scored, seven runs driven in and two home runs. Balet had hit for the cycle by the sixth inning and went on to extend his hitting streak to 18 games. Jason Howerton picked up the win, his third, by going two innings allowing three earned runs on seven hits with a strikeout. RF John Schmitz and 3B Chris Hall together went 8-for-12 with three runs scored and two RBI for the Canaries.
