Trenton Thunder News Release

Trenton, NJ - Justin Snyder cracked a two-run homer and RHP D.J. Mitchell cruised through six innings as the Thunder took the final game over Binghamton 5-3 on Sunday evening. The win moves the Thunder (68-47) back into sole possession of first place over New Hampshire in the Eastern Division.

Justin Snyder smacked his third homerun of the year - a two run shot - in the sixth inning for a 4-0 Trenton lead. The Mets countered with three consecutive hits to end Mitchell's outing in the top of the seventh. Brahiam Maldonado then cleared the bases with a double off reliever George Kontos to pull the Mets to within one run.

In the eight Austin Krum placed down a bunt in a suicide squeeze play with the bases loaded to score Dan Brewer and extend their lead to 5-3. The bullpen of Kontos, Arias and Pope combined to hold Binghamton scoreless in the final three innings to preserve the win for Mitchell. Mitchell (9-4) tossed six innings and allowed three runs on four hits with eight six strikeouts and three walks.

Trenton took a 2-0 lead in the second inning with an RBI single from Austin Romine and a sacrifice fly by Rene Rivera. Binghamton RHP Josh Stinson (9-2) allowed four runs on eight hits in 5 1/3 innings pitched in the loss.

The Thunder bullpen tossed a combined 11 1/3 scoreless innings in the three-game series. Trenton finishes the regular season with a 10-3 record against the Mets.

The Thunder will have an off day Monday before opening a three-game series in Altoona on Tuesday at 7:00 pm. All the action can be heard live on 107.7 FM or online at ww.trentonthunder.com.
