Opening Day...

Another Prospect League season begins today so it's Opening Day today at Robin Roberts Stadium. The first 1,000 fans will receive a 2012 magnet schedule, the mayor of Springfield J. Michael Houston will throw out the first pitch, and there will be a post game fireworks show.

Familiar Faces...

Pete Romero takes over as the Sliders' Manager for the 2012 season after serving under Manager Danny Cox last season. Vic Aure, who was also on Cox's staff last year, has also returned to work on Romero's staff. The Sliders also return 6 players from last year's team. Bryce Sablotny, Justin Hunsaker, Matt Tellor, Sean Gerber, Brock Harding, and Mike Fitzgerald all return for last year's squad.

Local Talent...

This year's roster includes 12 players from the state of Illinois. The University of Illinois, Benedictine University, Lincoln Land CC, Elgin CC, University of Illinois-Springfield, Southern Illinois, and Illinois Central are all represented on this year's roster.

Tonight's Pitching Matchup...

RHP Bryce Sablotny will get the ball tonight for the Sliders. Bryce went 4-3 with a 4.42 ERA for the Sliders last season and is coming off of his sophomore season at Lincoln Land CC where he finished 9-4 with a 4.12 ERA. The Bombers will counter with RHP Taylor Luna. He is coming off of a 8-3 junior season for Taylor University, which he finished with a 3.95 ERA.
