Bombers Win Road Opener

Before a crowd of 1254, The Dubois County Bombers got off their new bus with some good wood Tuesday night as they slammed 3 home runs in a come from behind victory over the Springfield Sliders.

Trailing 3-2 after 5 innings, the Bombers tied it in the 6th on a solo homer by right fielder Adam Guinn (Tusculum) before exploding for 4 in the 7th when third baseman Cody Daily (Southwestern Ill CC) cracked a grand slam to give the Bombers a 7-3 lead. In the eighth, the Bombers added 2 more runs when Dalton Rouleau (Hofstra) lead off with a solo home run and Frank Rawdow (Saint Leo) doubled, stole third and scored on Chris Taveras' (Connors State CC) sacrifice fly to put the game away.

Carmel, IN native Taylor Luna pitched 5 solid innings, striking out 6 before giving way to University of Utah's Nick Green who went the rest of the way and got the victory, also striking out 6.

Second baseman Bo Ausmus (Carson Newman) led the Bombers attack with 3 hits.

The Bombers host the Springfield Sliders at League Stadium in their home opener tonight with Jasper's Spencer Sapp (Indiana U) on the mound.

There are plenty of changes to see and experience this season including new throwback uniforms, lovely beer hostesses in World War II vintage outfits, and great food and drink with concessions from the Old School Caf�.

Gates open at 6:00 pm EDT and first pitch is at 7:15. Don't miss it!
