May 20, 2007 - American Association (AA)
Shreveport-Bossier Captains News Release
For the second straight game and the third time in the home stand, the Shreveport Sports scored a run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win a game and they did it Sunday 2-1 over Pensacola to sweep the four-game series.
Tommy Bryant was safe on an error to lead off the ninth inning. Juan Ventura sacrificed him to second base. Bryan Cooksey then doubled to center field to score Bryant with the winning run. It was Cooksey's first professional RBI as he just signed earlier this week with the Sports out of LSU-Shreveport where he finished his college career.
The game winning hit came off losing pitcher Hunter Davis while Leo Tyson pitched the final two inning in relief to pick up the victory. The win was the fourth straight for the Sports who will now travel to Coastal Bend to open up a three game series with the Aviators on Tuesday.
The Sports will return to Fair Grounds Field on May 29th to take on Coastal Bend.
