San Angelo Colts News Release

San Angelo, TX- The Colts had banished their offensive woes after just 1 inning of play, a Juan Rocha 3-run homer to thank for that. Or so they thought...over the next 8 innings of play, the Shreveport Sports would go on to outscore the Colts 10-1 in an 11-4 beating of San Angelo to give Shreveport 23 runs and 2 wins in the 1st 2 games of the series.

Chris Flanagan pitched well, but his defense allowed 3 early un-earned runs. Chris would leave the game with just 1 earned run allowed, but had 2 more tacked on when Chad Johnson came in relief and allowed a Derek Henderson Grand Slam to spark the Sports to a 5 run inning. Chris Hall would add a 2-run blast the next inning to cap the scoring.

Josh Gold took the ball for Shreveport and got hit hard early, but settled down after that scattering 5 hits over his next 7 innings of work. The Henderson Slam gives the DH 9 RBI's in the series while Vernon Spearman helped to kickstart the offense, as he scored 4 times on the night. 8 of the 9 Colts starters would have a hit apiece in the losing effort.
