Shreveport-Bossier Captains News Release
The Shreveport Sports finished the first half of the American Association season with an 8-3 loss to Pensacola Sunday at Fair Grounds Field.
Shreveport took a 1-0 lead in the first inning only to have the Pelicans tie the game in the second. Pensacola took the lead for good with a run in the fourth, then added three in the fifth and sixth inning, a lead the Sports could not overcome.
The Sports had only four hits, but Pensacola pitchers walked seven, hit two batters and committed one error as Shreveport stranded eight base runners. The Sports ended the first half with a record of 17-31.
After an off day Monday, the Sports will start the second half Tuesday at Fair Grounds Field against the first half South Division winning Fort Worth Cats. Game time will be 7:05.
