
Sporting KC to Play Houston Dynamo in Eastern Conference Semifinals

Sporting Kansas City will begin their Quest for the Cup, presented by Budweiser, against the Houston Dynamo in a two-game, aggregate goal Eastern Conference Semifinals series. Houston, the No. 5 seed in the East, advanced with a 2-1 victory over No. 4 seed Chicago Fire on Wednesday in the Eastern Conference Knockout Round.
The first leg will kick off at 2:30 p.m. CT on Sunday at the recently opened BBVA Compass Stadium, live on NBC and Sports Radio 810 WHB. Ticket information for traveling Sporting Kansas City supporters will be made available via the KC Cauldron.
The Members' Club at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park will host the team's official watch party for the match on Sunday with parking available in Lot D and doors opening at 1:30 p.m. CT. Food and beverages will be available, including the $3 Pick Special which features chips and the choice of a hamburger, hot dog or bratwurst. Additionally, Sporting Style will be offering a special buy one, get one 50% off promotion on all Sporting KC jerseys.
The decisive return leg will be held at 8:00 p.m. CT on Wednesday, Nov. 7 at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park, live on KSMO-TV and Sports Radio 810 WHB. Standing-room only tickets are currently on sale and a limited number of seats are still available online at Ticketmaster.com or at the LSP Box Offices. If the aggregate score is tied after 180 minutes of play, two 15-minute extra time periods will be played in their entirety, followed by penalty kicks, if necessary.
Sporting Kansas City and the Houston Dynamo met three times during the 2012 MLS regular season. Sporting KC recorded draws against the Dynamo in each of the two matches played at LSP, most recently in a 1-1 tie on Sept. 14, and suffered the team's last road loss in a 2-1 defeat at BBVA Compass Stadium in July.
The Eastern Conference Semifinals will mark the third playoff match-up between the two clubs in the last six years and will feature a rematch of last year's Eastern Conference Championship at LSP. Sporting Kansas City's record in the all-time series stands at 3-8-6 (including playoffs).
Sporting Kansas City will train at 10 a.m. CT on Friday and will hold a press conference at noon CT at the Sporting Club Training Center in Swope Park before departing for Houston.
All Sporting Kansas City training sessions during the 2012 season are open to the public unless noted otherwise, and media are encouraged to attend for video, interview and photo opportunities.
