Spokane Shock Use Bye Week To Prepare For Playoffs

SPOKANE, WASHINGTON (8/19/2021) - The Spokane Shock are taking advantage of their BYE week to prepare for playoffs beginning on August 28th. The Shock will finish in the 6th seed and play the third seed. There are sixteen scenarios that can play out this weekend. We will be watching opponents as the final positions will be secured Saturday. The IFL playoffs will include the top 8 teams by record and win percentage. Arizona, Frisco and Massachusetts are fighting for the first three spots.

After the first round the highest seed will play host to the lowest seed. The highest seed will be the home team.

The United Bowl will be played at the higher seed's home.

WEEK 18 SCHEDULE

Iowa at Massachusetts

Bismarck at Duke City

Green Bay at Sioux Falls

Tucson at Northern Arizona

Frisco at Arizona

TIE BREAKER

In case of a tie in win percentage the following will be used to break ties and seed teams.

1. Winning percentage

2. Head-to-Head

3. Record vs Common Opponent

4. Strength of Schedule

5. Point Differential Head-to-Head of Teams involved in the Tie

6. Point Differential for Entire Season Among teams involved in tie

6. Coin Flip

What are we watching for this weekend?

If Iowa beats Massachusetts, the Shock will play Massachusetts in Worchester next weekend August 28th .

If Massachusetts beats Iowa, the Shock will travel to the loser of the Arizona and Frisco game. The

Shock will travel in the first round but have the potential to play the conference championship and United Bowl in Spokane.

If Arizona loses to Frisco, the Shock will play Arizona in Arizona. If both the Shock and Frisco win in the first round, due to a scheduling conflict in Frisco the 2nd round will most likely be played in Spokane on Monday night football September 6th .

The Spokane Shock will be practicing next week at Dwight Merkel on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9:30 to 11:00 in order to prepare for their next opponent.

The last spots

There are four teams in the running for the last two playoff spots - Sioux Falls, Green Bay, Duke City, and Tucson. Iowa and Bismarck are the two teams in the fight to secure the fourth-place seed, which results in a home game the first round of playoffs. Sioux Falls and Duke City must win their games in order to continue to their competition.

* Arizona, Frisco, and Massachusetts have clinched the top 3 seeds and first round home games
