Spokane, WA: The Spokane Shock captured their first home game win, defeating the Milwaukee Mustangs 57-26 in front of 9,876 fans.
In his second game of the season, Kyle Rowley completed 20 passes on 26 attempts for the night with 214 yards and five touchdowns. Adron Tennell was the Shock's leading receiver gaining 94 yards and three touchdowns. Brandon Thompkins collected 89 yards and two touchdowns in the air along with two touchdowns on the ground.
Spokane opened up the game with the first touchdown of the night as Rowley connected with Tennell for a 16-yard touchdown pass two minutes into the first quarter. Milwaukee's offense struggled to complete a pass to start off the game, and the Mustang's responded late in the first quarter with their first touchdown. Gino Guidugli ran one yard into the endzone and the quarter ended 7-7.
The Mustangs started the second quarter with possession but it didn't take long for LB Terence Moore to intercept and return the ball 10 yards for a touchdown. Spokane's kickoff was blocked by Lius Vasquez and returned by Ki Ame Johnson for a defensive PAT. Milwaukee managed to pick-up a few yards before DL Jeremy Geathers sacked Guidugli for a loss of five yards and a safety. The Shock promptly drove down the field and was capped with a one yard touchdown run by Thompkins. Milwaukee answered with a 26-yard pass to Jared Jenkins. On the following Shock possession, Rowley found Adron Tennell for an 8-yard touchdown pass to ensure Spokane's lead at the end of the half 29-16.
Milwaukee continued to struggle in the second half to move the ball down the field and settled on a 30-yard field goal by Ryan Gates. After Spokane shuffled down the field, Spokane drove the ball one yard for a touchdown. Geathers had his second sack of the night to bring the third quarter to a close with a score of 39-19.
Early in the fourth quarter, Micah King stripped Milwaukee quarterback Guidugli of the ball and recovered. Once again, Rowley found Thompkins and connected for a 7-yard touchdown pass. The Mustangs would be the last to score on a Justin Lawrence short run.
The Shock (2-3) defeated the Milwaukee Mustangs (2-2) with a final score of 57-26. Next week Spokane will have their second and final bye week of the season. The action will continue on April 28 as the Shock travel to Jacksonville.
