Windsor Spitfires News Release
The Spitfires extended the teams win streak to double digits on Saturday evening.
In the first period, the Spitfires got out to a lead just over six minutes into the game on the powerplay. Miedema scored his 13th on the season on the doorstep. Assists went to Renwick and Abraham. Just 7 minutes later, the Spitfires were back on the powerplay and Miedema unleashed a rocket for his 2nd of the night on the powerplay from Renwick and D'Amico. With just 5 minutes to play in the period the Attack scored to make it a 2-1 game. The Spitfires trailed in shots 13-11 after 20 minutes.
In the second period, the Attack tied it up just 5:32 into the period. The Spitfires then got into a little bit of penalty trouble but the PK was perfect throughout. Late in the period, the Spitfires came alive with 3 goals in less than 3 minutes. Giving the Spitfires the lead was D'Amico scoring his 27th on the season from Renwick (his 3rd assist of the night). Just over a minute later, Johnston stole the puck off the defender and wrap-around the net for his 44th goal of the season. Just 26 seconds after that Cuylle deflected a Johnston shot into the net for his 41st. Henault drew the 2nd assist on the goal.
In the third period, the Spitfires extended the lead to 6-2 on an Abraham tally, his 13th of the season. Perrott and Maggio drew assists on the goal and both of them achieved the 100 career OHL points milestone. Just two minutes later the Attack scored to make it 6-3 but that would do it as both teams just wined down the clock.
The Spitfires went a perfect 3-0-0 over a three in three weekend. The team is back at the WFCU Centre for the teams final home game on April 7th when Guelph comes to town. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30pm.
